The Do's & Don'ts On How To Create A Fan

The Do's & Don'ts On How To Create A Fan

Who is your target audience? Where do they hangout? What social media site is their favorite? Age, gender, and location also play's a big role in what people listen to. These are some of the questions you should be asking yourself when you are looking to create a fan base. Are you the hunted or the hunter.

Having friends and followers is one thing, having fans that swipe the Visa is another. Is music your life or is it just a hobby. Triggering psychological internal stimuli has to be the route taken to get the response your looking for.

Making video's for your song's you release are a lot more engaging than just putting out the song alone. I noticed the difference when we put out two versions of "We Know How To Boogie". The one with scenes from our live performances had so many more views on You Tube it was unbelievable

In order to get potential customers they have to get to know your personality, what your about, build trust so that when they see your email in their inbox they are excited to see what you have to say. Interviews is a  avenue that a artist should really focus on. It's definitely a way for your audience to get to know the real you and not just the stage personna.

Our online interview with Essential Pop gave us exposure to a new audience that was unexpected and we built new relationships because of it. Is music a hobby or is it your life. Is having a 9 to 5 not a option for you. This is where the rubber hits the pavement. This decision will keep you up at night for sure.

Research, testing, and understanding analytics  are key components that artist slack a little on. Due to the fact that it is hard work being a musician and a marketer juggling both hats at the same time. Spending years and many hours a day perfecting your craft as a musician and then have to learn how to get your music in the market place is a tedious task.

Learning the "Why" people respond to certain things and not to others is marketing 101 and has to be strategically studied to do this as a living. Does your material add value? Does your audience identify with the message your sending? Does your material get the listener through the everyday hustle and muscle or does it make them want to hit the dance floor? Know the expected reaction.

The Don'ts: Do not post on someone else's timeline without their permission. It cause's the person to get upset and makes you look unprofessional. Do not tag 20-50 people and send out a post when they don't know what your doing. I've got emails where someone tagged me in a post and I'm like what is this about. Paying for likes, views, friends, and followers.

This is a no no because they have software out their now that can detect if your doing this. Also, all the major social media sites are clamping down on this and record labels have ways to find out if your practicing this method as well so it's best to go organic and get a fan the old fashion way. Earn them!

That's all I have for now. Listen to our music and tell us who do you think we sound like. It would really be helpful. Thanks a lot and I look forward to chatting with you soon.

Sincerely - Vglove's Perspective
